New Hampshire

In the last six years, Anthem BCBS of New Hampshire has seen a 127.2% cumulative increase in net income.

Year over year, net income outpaces the rate of member enrollment on a cumulative basis. And in recent years, Anthem’s MLR has also decreased. Reserves and profits are growing robustly, yet the amount of money Anthem spends on care is decreasing and membership numbers are flat. What’s more, news headlines from the past year suggest that Anthem has become more aggressive with providers over the years. This is very typical behavior for a health plan with dominant market share.
